Just got my positive test and im so new to all this. Dont know when the first scan is supposed to happen or how many scans there are in total. Can someone explain the timeline a little pls?
Standard timing is early dating, NT scan around 11-13 weeks, anomaly at 18-20 weeks, and growth scans in last trimester. But timings shift slightly per pregnancy, best to just follow what your gynac writes on your card.
I was confused about this too as a first timer. So far ive had a dating scan and the NT one, anomaly scan is coming at 20 weeks. Did you all have growth scans more often in third tri? My doc said maybe monthly later.
My doctor planned roughly these, an early dating scan around 6-9 weeks, the NT scan near 11-13 weeks, the anomaly/level 2 scan around 18-20 weeks, and growth scans in the third trimester. Exact timing she decided per my case, so follow your own doctors schedule.
Usually a dating scan first, then NT around 12 weeks, then the big anomaly scan at 19-20 weeks, plus growth scans later. Dont book on your own, your gynac tells you exactly when based on your dates.
There are usually 3-4 main scans through the pregnancy, the dating, NT, anomaly and growth ones. I planned for the cost in advance coz the level 2 anomaly scan was a bit pricey. Ask your hospital for the rough schedule and rates upfront.
