Where should the placenta be located during pregnancy?
Got my anomaly scan report and it mentions placenta position but i couldnt fully understand what's normal. Is there a particular spot it should be in? trying to make sense of it before my next visit.
My doctor explained the placenta can attach anywhere on the uterus wall, front (anterior), back (posterior), top, side, all are normal. What they really watch is that it's not low and covering the cervix, that's placenta previa. Mine was anterior and totally fine. The position often moves up as the uterus grows too.
My report said posterior placenta and I panicked but the doctor said it's the common normal one. Quick question, does anterior mean you feel kicks later? Mine is posterior and I started feeling movements pretty early.
Anterior, posterior, fundal, all normal. The only one they keep an eye on is when it's low lying near the cervix, and even that usually shifts up by the later scans. Don't stress over the position your scan report mentions, the doctor will tell you if it's actually a concern.
Basically any wall of the uterus is fine, fundal/posterior/anterior are all okay. The scan just flags if it's low or previa. I read up a lot during mine and even low lying ones commonly move up by the 28-32 week scan. Your gynac is the one to confirm yours is well placed.
