Bit of an awkward question but I genuinely dont know. If we are intimate during pregnancy, where does it actually go since im already pregnant. Just trying to understand how it works.
My gynac explained that during pregnancy the body has a mucus plug sealing the cervix, so semen cant reach the baby. It just stays in the vagina and is absorbed or expelled normally. She said sex during a healthy pregnancy is safe and the baby is well protected.
Short answer, it doesnt go anywhere near the baby. The cervix stays closed with a protective plug during pregnancy. If you have any specific concern or a high risk pregnancy, just confirm with your own gynac, otherwise it's nothing to stress about.
Once you're already pregnant, you cant get pregnant again, so during sex in pregnancy the semen just gets absorbed or comes out naturally, nothing to worry about. The cervix has a mucus plug protecting the baby. It doesnt reach or harm the baby at all.
I had this exact doubt and felt shy to ask my doctor. So good to read that the baby is sealed off by the plug and it's totally safe. Glad i'm not the only one who wondered this.
