Which anti tuberculosis drug is contraindicated in pregnancy?
My cousin is on TB treatment and just found out she's pregnant. Now everyone in the family is tense about whether all her medicines are safe to continue. She'll talk to her doctor but I wanted to understand which ones are usually avoided. anyone been through this?
I read streptomycin is usually the one avoided, but honestly TB meds in pregnancy is a serious topic. Best to ask ur gynac and the TB doctor together so they coordinate the right safe regimen for u.
This is something only ur treating doctor should manage. TB treatment in pregnancy needs proper supervision. Pls dont stop or change any tablet without telling them, it can be risky for both of u.
Generally streptomycin is the one they avoid in pregnancy because it can affect baby's hearing. But please dont decide TB medicines on ur own, ur doctor adjusts the whole combination carefully for pregnancy.
Beta dont worry too much, TB is treatable even during pregnancy with the right medicines. Just make sure u r under a proper doctor who knows u r pregnant, they will pick the safe ones.
