Cough syrups vary a lot and not all are pregnancy safe, so this is really a doctor decision. A quick call gets you a safe option. For mild throat, warm fluids help meanwhile.
For a mild cough, beta, warm water with a little honey or ginger soothed my throat. For the syrup part, dont guess, ask your doctor which one is safe. Home remedy for small cough, doctor for the rest.
Please dont buy any cough syrup over the counter in pregnancy, some are not safe. Call your gynac and they will tell you a safe one for you. I always asked mine before taking anything, even for a cold.
