Trying to up my protein in this second trimester and we eat dal almost every day at ghar. Just wondering which one is best for us pregnant ladies. Pls share what you all are having.
With twins kicking inside, I was practically eating for three, so protein was super important! Moong dal and masoor dal were my daily lifesavers because they cook fast and don't cause gas like chana dal does. Try to make a simple khichdi when you feel too lazy to cook.
With my PCOS history, I had to be very careful with protein and carbs balance. I found moong dal to be the easiest to digest and very light on the stomach. I'd say start with light yellow moong dal, but don't overdo any heavy dals without noticing how your body feels.
I had a very complicated pregnancy and my digestion was totally messed up, so my doctor specifically asked me to stick to yellow moong dal soup. It's always safer to ask your own doctor or nutritionist what suits your health profile best.
Look, all dals are good source of protein, but yellow moong dal and tuar dal are the best for daily use. Don't eat too much of heavy ones like rajma or chana dal at night otherwise you will get bad acidity and bloating. Keep it simple and light.
