Im in my second trimester and want to add some healthy dry fruits to my daily routine. There are so many options that im confused which ones are actually best. What do u all eat daily?
You don't need to spend a bomb on exotic berries or expensive nuts. Plain old almonds, walnuts, and a couple of dates are perfect and easily available at any local grocery store. Just soak them overnight so they are easy on your stomach and have them in the morning.
Looking back at my pregnancy, soaked almonds and walnuts were my daily go-to. My MIL insisted on them, and honestly, they are great for baby's brain development and keep you full too. Don't worry too much about eating fancy things, just a handful of normal dry fruits is more than enough!
When I consulted my clinical nutritionist at the hospital, she gave me a proper chart of which dry fruits to eat and when. She highly recommended walnuts and dried figs, but told me to wash them thoroughly first. It’s always best to ask your hospital’s diet team for a personalized plan.
Honestly, during my pregnancy, I ate dates like crazy hoping for an easy labor (spoiler alert: it was still a long ride!). Almonds are great too, but please don't eat too many unless you want to spend your day fighting crazy acidity. Keep it moderate!
Since I had PCOS and a higher risk of gestational diabetes, my doctor advised me to be careful with sweet dry fruits like dates and raisins. I stuck mostly to walnuts and almonds because they have good fats and won't spike your sugar levels. It's always safe to start with small quantities and see how your body reacts.
