Which hormone prevents menstruation during pregnancy?
Just curious about how the body actually works once you conceive. Like what stops the periods completely for those 9 months? Trying to understand my own body better.
My doctor explained that progesterone is the main one, it keeps the uterus lining intact so periods stop. hCG also rises in early pregnancy which is what the test detects. So basically the hormones change completely once you conceive.
Progesterone is the key hormone here, along with hCG in early stages. If you want the proper science of it your gynac can explain nicely during a visit, they have those charts and all.
Its mainly progesterone that holds the lining and stops the period. Thats why missed period is the first big sign. Body knows what to do once baby is on the way.
Oh I was curious about this too. So is it the same hormone that makes us feel all the mood changes and tiredness? My periods stopped the moment I got pregnant and it felt so strange at first.
