I want to start some light breathing exercises to stay calm but not sure which pranayama are safe now. Im in 2nd trimester. Dont want to do anything thats not advisable. Anyone who did pranayama during pregnancy, pls suggest?
Since our IVF journeys make us extra cautious about every single movement, I only stuck to very gentle breathing exercises. Anulom Vilom (alternate nostril breathing) is wonderful and totally safe, but please avoid any fast breathing like Kapalbhati. Always consult your doctor before starting anything new.
When my morning sickness was at its worst, doing very gentle Anulom Vilom really helped calm my nausea and breathing. Just sit comfortably in a cool room and do it slowly, without holding your breath at all.
I was so scared of doing even basic breathing wrong and hurting the baby! I finally did just simple, deep belly breathing and very slow Anulom Vilom, which really helped my anxiety. Please don't do any intense pranayama like Kapalbhati, as it puts pressure on the tummy.
Anulom Vilom is great to calm your mind, especially when you are trying not to think about those midnight pizza cravings! Just keep it simple, breathe deep and slow, and avoid anything that strains your belly.
