Which pregnancy category is considered the riskiest?
I keep hearing doctors talk about high risk and normal pregnancy. just wanted to understand which type is counted as the most risky one and why. asking out of curiosity, im first time pregnant so still learning all this.
Mine was labelled high risk due to BP issues and it just meant more frequent checks and care, which kept us safe. So if you are told high risk, dont panic, it means they are watching closely. Always follow your gynac's advice in such cases.
Doctors usually call them high risk pregnancies, things like very high BP, uncontrolled diabetes, certain heart conditions or carrying multiples. These need closer monitoring, not necessarily a bad outcome. Your gynac decides risk level based on your full history, so it is individual.
My doctor explained high risk can come from age, pre existing conditions, previous complications or multiple babies. There isnt one single riskiest category, it depends on the specific factors. She said the point of the label is more care, not fear.
