Which vegetables should be avoided during pregnancy?
My MIL keeps telling me to stop eating certain sabzis like brinjal and papaya and im so confused now. First trimester and I dont want to take any risk. Can someone tell me which veggies are actually a no during pregnancy?
Mostly the advice is to avoid raw sprouts and properly wash everything well. Cook veggies nicely, dont eat half raw salads from outside. With both my pregnancies i just stuck to home cooked sabzi and was fine.
Beta in our family they always said avoid too much raw papaya, esp the unripe one. Otherwise normal vegetables are good for you and baby. Just wash properly and cook well, mitti nikal do achhe se.
Honestly most vegetables are good, its more about hygiene than the veggie itself. Raw/undercooked ones and unwashed greens are the concern because of infection risk. Ask your gynac, mine just told me wash well and cook properly.
Dont overthink and buy fancy stuff yaar. Simple seasonal sabzi cooked at home is best and cheap. Just wash properly to avoid any stomach infection, and skip raw sprouts/salads from outside.
My amma also kept telling me no raw papaya during pregnancy, its a common thing said at home. I avoided it just to keep everyone happy. For the rest i ate all normal vegetables, but do confirm with your doctor once.
