Im so confused with this counting, doc says one thing and the apps show another. My last period was around mid of last month, how do I actually know my correct week? Help yaar.
Since my periods were always irregular due to PCOS, the LMP calculation didn't work for me. If you have irregular cycles, please wait for the dating scan, your gynac will tell the exact week based on baby's growth. Don't stress too much about the dates right now.
My doctor explained that pregnancy is always calculated from the first day of your last menstrual period (LMP), not the conception date. So even though baby is younger, you are technically considered 2 weeks pregnant on ovulation day. Use your LMP to count the weeks.
Just download any free pregnancy tracker app on your phone, yaar. Put the date of your last period's first day, and it will show you exactly which week and day you are in. It's the simplest way!
To keep it simple and quick, count how many weeks have passed since your last period started. If it's been 6 weeks since that date, you are in your 6th week. Note it down so you can tell your gynac at your first visit.
Calculating from the first day of your last period is the standard way. It feels amazing to watch those weeks add up! Just keep track of it, and your doctor'll confirm the exact week during your first ultrasound anyway.
If this was an IVF pregnancy, the week calculation is done differently based on your transfer date, which your doctor will tell you. If it was natural, count from the first day of your last period. Wishing you a very beautiful and safe journey ahead, dear.
Haha, welcome to the club where we are all bad at math! Just count the weeks starting from the day your last period began. Or better, let an app do the hard work so you can focus on eating and sleeping!
