Im in my third trimester and noticing some changes there, made me curious when the body actually starts preparing milk. Is it normal to start before delivery?
Colostrum can start forming from the second trimester, though many dont leak until much later or only after birth. Both are normal. Dont stress if you dont leak at all before delivery, the milk comes once baby arrives.
Your body starts preparing quite early, but the first thick yellow colostrum can leak from around the second trimester for some, often later. Real milk really comes in after delivery. I leaked a little from around 30 weeks, it is totally normal and varies for everyone.
I noticed a tiny bit of leaking recently and got worried something was off. My gynac said early colostrum can appear and it is normal. Did others also leak before delivery, it surprised me.
