I want to start some light yoga to stay active and help with delivery, im 16 weeks now. Never done much before so dont want to do anything risky. Which poses are safe and good to begin with?
Prenatal yoga specifically is the way to go, gentle stretches, breathing and pelvic exercises. Avoid anything with twists or lying flat on belly. But please get your doctor's okay before starting, every pregnancy is different.
Stick to prenatal yoga, not your regular advanced asanas. Breathing exercises and gentle stretching really helped me with back pain and even labour breathing. Find a proper prenatal instructor rather than doing random youtube.
Go for gentle prenatal yoga with proper guidance, dont attempt difficult poses on your own. Even just the breathing helps so much with calm. Listen to your body and stop if anything feels off.
There are special pregnancy yoga classes designed for this. Things like cat-cow, gentle hip openers and pranayam are usually good. But the best person to clear it is your gynac, so confirm with them first.
I followed prenatal yoga sessions through an app and it was lovely, very gentle. They guide you on what to avoid trimester wise. Just make sure whatever you pick is pregnancy specific and doctor approved.
