I used to do yoga regularly before and want to continue now that im pregnant, im in 2nd trimester. But im not sure which poses are a no-no now. Can someone who did prenatal yoga tell me what to avoid? dont want to do anything wrong.
I did prenatal yoga but only after my doc okayed it. We avoided anything lying flat on the belly, deep twists, and intense back bends. No breath holding poses either. Best to join a proper prenatal class instead of regular yoga.
My instructor and doctor both said avoid poses that compress the tummy, deep twists, full inversions like headstand, and anything that needs strong core work. Gentle stretches and breathing were encouraged. Definitely do it under a trained prenatal teacher.
I love yoga but kept it very gentle in pregnancy, mostly breathing and easy stretches. Avoided anything intense on the stomach. If you feel any pain or discomfort in a pose, stop and ask ur doctor before continuing.
Skip the belly down poses, hot yoga, deep backbends and anything that strains. Stick to gentle, supported poses. And dont push into stretches, the hormones make joints loose so injury is easy, go slow.
