My gynac told me i have negative blood group and i'll need this injection around 28 weeks. I didnt fully understand why, was too nervous to ask more in the clinic. Anyone here who took it, what is it actually for?
I am Rh negative so I had this injection, it is given to protect the baby and later pregnancies. Please dont skip it if your doctor advises it, it really matters. Ask your gynac to explain it for your specific blood group.
My doctor explained anti D is given when the mother is Rh negative and the baby could be Rh positive, to prevent the body from reacting. It protects future pregnancies basically. She said it is routine and important if your blood group needs it.
It is about the Rh factor, given to Rh negative moms so the body doesnt make antibodies against an Rh positive baby. Quite a standard thing when needed. Your doctor checks your blood group and decides, so just follow their advice.
