Sounds like a basic question but i genuinely never understood the actual reason behind it. Now that im expecting and obviously not getting periods, i got curious about the science of it. Anyone know how to explain it simply?
Simple, your body stops shedding the lining because the baby needs it. That's why missed period is the first sign most of us notice. No bleeding for those 9 months, sort of a break haha.
My doc explained it nicely, periods come when the uterus lining sheds if there's no pregnancy. Once you conceive, that lining stays to support the baby so it doesnt shed, hence no periods. The hormones keep it that way till delivery.
I was wondering the same thing! So the lining basically becomes the baby's support system na, that's why no period. Makes sense now. Does it come back right after delivery or takes time, anyone knows?
It's just nature's way, the body holds on to that lining to nourish your little one instead of letting it go each month. Totally normal, nothing to worry. It all resumes once baby is here.
