I love papaya and was eating it almost daily till my mom snatched it away saying its dangerous in pregnancy. Now im a bit worried since i had it a few times early on. Why exactly is it not allowed, is it all papaya or only raw one?
It is mainly raw or semi ripe papaya that is the concern, it has latex which can cause contractions. My gynac said fully ripe papaya in small amount is usually okay but raw one avoid. So the elders are not totally wrong here.
Haan mostly it is the raw papaya issue na. I skipped it completely during pregnancy, there are so many other fruits anyway. Why take tension over one fruit.
Beta in our times we strictly avoided papaya, especially the kachcha one. The ripe one some people eat but better safe than sorry. Always cross check with your doctor na.
