My doc has written betnesol injection for me and im 32 weeks. She explained quickly but i didnt fully samajh why its needed. Can someone tell me why they give this, is it normal?
My doctor explained that Betnesol is a steroid that accelerates fetal lung maturity. It's standard protocol if there's a risk of preterm birth before 34 weeks, so it is highly recommended for baby's safety.
It is simply for the baby's lung development in case they have to deliver you early. Don't overthink it, just take the injection quietly as advised by your doctor.
This injection is given if there's any chance of early delivery, just to make sure baby's lungs are strong. Don't worry about the cost or hospital stay, just get it done as it is very common and important.
My doctor also mentioned this might be needed later if my cervix is short. Are you having any early pain or did your doctor just suggest it as a precaution?
