At my last checkup the nurse said my bp was on the higher side and asked me to monitor it. Im 28 weeks and a bit worried now. Just trying to understand why this happens during pregnancy, will discuss properly with my doc next visit.
My doctor explained that pregnancy puts extra load on your heart and blood vessels, so BP can rise in some women. Sometimes it is just pregnancy related and sometimes it can be preeclampsia which needs watching. Thats why they check BP at every visit, so dont skip them.
Hormones and the extra blood flow your body makes can push BP up. For some it stays normal, for some it climbs. Whatever the reason, high BP in pregnancy is not something to manage by yourself, get it checked and monitored properly.
There can be many reasons, weight, stress, existing conditions, or pregnancy itself triggering it. I wont guess yours. The important thing is regular monitoring and following what your doctor says. If you ever feel headache, swelling or blurry vision, tell them at once.
I had high BP in my pregnancy and it needs to be taken seriously, please dont ignore it. It can happen due to hormonal and circulation changes, but high BP can affect you and the baby. Keep your gynac in the loop and go for every check up, mine monitored me closely.
My mom kept me calm and made sure I ate less salty food when my BP was a bit high, but we still went to the doctor for it. Stress and salt can add to it. Just stay relaxed and let your gynac guide the rest.
