Why do clotting factors increase during pregnancy?
My latest blood report came back and the doc mentioned my clotting levels are higher than before, said it's expected in pregnancy. Im 28 weeks now and just curious why the body does this on its own. Anyone know the actual reason behind it?
Basically the hormones cause it, the body wants to protect you from heavy bleeding when baby comes. Its well known and expected. But your doctor knows your reports best so always go by what they advise for you specifically.
It is normal but please dont ignore if your legs swell a lot or one leg pains more than other. I had a clotting issue and they put me on monitoring. For most women its fine but if anything feels off, tell your gynac.
My gynac explained it nicely actually. She said the body naturally increases clotting factors so that during delivery there isnt too much blood loss. Its the body preparing in advance, totally normal part of pregnancy.
Haan its a normal thing, blood becomes a bit more thick in pregnancy. Both my pregnancies my reports showed this and doc said its expected. Just stay hydrated and keep walking a little if doctor allows.
Oh I was reading about this too and got a little scared honestly. So its just the body getting ready for delivery? Did anyone else worry about this or is it really nothing to stress over?
