Why do doctors prescribe aspirin during pregnancy?
My gynac added a low dose aspirin to my list this week and i forgot to ask her why. I always thought aspirin is something u avoid in pregnancy so im a little puzzled. Anyone else been put on it and know the reason?
It is prescribed for specific reasons in some pregnancies, never to be self started. If your doctor gave it, follow exactly as told and dont change the dose. Always ask if unsure.
My doctor put me on a low dose aspirin because I had a slightly higher BP risk. She explained it can help reduce certain pregnancy complications in some women. But it is only when the doctor prescribes it for your specific risk, not for everyone.
I was given low dose aspirin too after my history was reviewed. It is decided case by case, please dont start it on your own. Only your gynac should say if you need it.
