Why do hemoglobin levels decrease during pregnancy?
My hb dropped a bit in my recent test and my gynac said its common but i still want to understand why it happens. Im in 2nd trimester and feeling thoda more tired these days. Just curious about the reason.
Basically, during pregnancy, your body makes more blood, but the plasma (liquid part) increases more than the red blood cells. So, the red blood cells get a bit diluted, which makes your hemoglobin level seem lower. It's a common thing, but still needs monitoring by your doc, so take your iron pills!
My pregnancy app explained this really well! It said your blood volume expands quite a lot during pregnancy to support the baby, but the increase in plasma outpaces the increase in red blood cells. This 'dilution' effect is why hemoglobin often drops. Your doc will suggest iron if needed, and my app also gave food suggestions.
It's quite a normal physiological change, actually. Your blood volume increases significantly to support the growing baby, so the red blood cells get a bit 'diluted.' That's why iron supplements are often recommended to keep levels stable. My doc explained it like that, and I took my iron regularly, it really helps.
Hemoglobin levels dropping is very common, but it's important to monitor it because if it drops too low, it can lead to complications. I had issues with my blood during pregnancy, so please, discuss your levels with your doctor immediately. They'll advise on supplements or diet, don't ignore it.
Beta, garbhwati hone par khoon thoda patla ho jata hai. Shareer mein paani ki matra badh jaati hai, toh khoon ke laal kan kam lagte hain. Isliye doctor goli dete hain aur bolte hain achcha khana khao. Chinta mat karo, sab normal hai, bas suno doc ki aur achche se aaram karo.
