My recent reports showed my thyroid levels are off and the doc has started me on something. I never had any thyroid issue before this pregnancy so im confused why it suddenly came up now. Anyone else developed it during pregnancy?
It is pretty common in pregnancy because of all the hormonal shifts. I had borderline levels and just took the prescribed tablet and got retested on time. Manageable thing, just keep up the regular tests your doctor orders.
My gynac explained that pregnancy puts extra demand on the thyroid and the hormone changes can unmask or worsen a thyroid problem. That is why they test TSH routinely. If it is off, they adjust with medication and recheck regularly.
I developed thyroid issues in pregnancy and my doctor said the hormonal changes and extra demand on the body can trigger it. The main thing is regular testing and taking the medicine exactly as prescribed. Dont skip your thyroid follow ups, that is what kept mine in control.
