Why does blood pressure fluctuate during pregnancy?
At my last checkup the bp reading was a bit high and the time before it was normal. Now im worried why its going up and down like this. Anyone else had this happen during pregnancy?
My doctor told me BP often dips a bit in the early and middle months because blood vessels relax, then it can rise later. So some ups and downs are expected. The important thing is they watch it doesnt go too high, as that needs attention.
I had thyroid issues so I know how the body plays with these numbers in pregnancy. Fluctuation can be normal but regular follow up is key so nothing is missed. Dont skip those appointments, they catch the warning signs early.
Hormones and the extra blood your body is making mess with BP, totally normal to see some variation. Rest, water and less salt help keep it steady. But always note the high readings and tell your gynac.
Stress and running around also bump it up, I noticed mine was higher on hectic work days. Try to sit and relax before each reading. And keep your checkups, that one BP check at every visit really matters.
Mine kept fluctuating and it turned out I needed close monitoring, so please dont take BP changes lightly. Small swings are normal but if its consistently high, with headache or swelling, call your doctor immediately.
