Felt really dizzy this morning while standing up and at my checkup the bp reading was on the lower side. Im 16 weeks. The doc didnt seem worried but i want to understand why it goes down in pregnancy. anyone experienced this?
Hormones cause the vessels to relax so BP drops a bit, its quite common. Stay hydrated, dont stand too long and rise slowly. But if you actually faint or feel very unwell, get it checked.
My doctor said its because pregnancy hormones relax and widen your blood vessels, so BP can dip especially in the first and second trimester. Its usually normal and settles later. Standing up slowly helps avoid that dizzy feeling.
Mild low BP is usually normal but if you feel faint, very weak or actually black out, please tell your doctor. Keep your fluids up and dont skip meals. Better to mention it at your visit.
I felt so dizzy when I stood up fast in the early months and it scared me. The doctor said low BP is common and to get up slowly. Eating on time and staying hydrated really helped me.
