My hb came down at my last test compared to before and gynac mentioned its common but i still felt low about it. I eat decently so couldnt understand why it dropped. Can anyone explain why this happens?
It's partly dilution from extra blood volume and partly the baby drawing iron. Pretty common. Eat iron rich food, take the prescribed iron, and dont skip your hb checks.
My doctor explained blood volume increases a lot in pregnancy so the hb gets a bit diluted, plus the baby uses iron, so levels often drop. That's why iron rich food and supplements matter. She kept checking my hb at each visit.
My hb went low too and doctor gave iron tablets and said eat green veg, jaggery and dates. It came up slowly. Dont worry, it's normal and they handle it.
