Im 22 weeks and lately even just walking to the kitchen makes my heart race like crazy. Sometimes I feel it pounding when im just lying down at night, thoda scary honestly. Is this normal in pregnancy or should i mention to my gynac?
My doctor explained that your blood volume increases a lot in pregnancy so the heart works harder, hence faster beats. Its usually normal. But she said if it comes with chest pain or breathlessness or dizziness, get checked right away.
Its your body doing extra work for two now, beta, so it speeds up. Sit, breathe slow and rest when it happens. But do tell your doctor at your next visit so they can reassure you.
Oh I get this too sometimes and it scares me a little. Did others also feel their heart racing for no reason? Reading that its common makes me feel a bit better.
Mild fast heartbeat can be normal, but I had palpitations with dizziness once and it turned out my iron was low. So I would say mention it to your gynac just to be sure. Dont brush it off if it feels strong.
Slow deep breathing and sitting down calmed my racing heart, my doctor said that was fine to do. I avoided sudden movements and too much caffeine. But anything new I always ran by my gynac first.
