Why does the menstrual cycle stop during pregnancy?
Random curiosity but i keep wondering about this. My period just stopped completely the moment i got pregnant and i was actually relieved but also like why does the body do that exactly? Just want to understand whats happening inside.
It's the body's way of protecting the little one, nothing to worry about. The bleeding stops because the lining is now busy nourishing the baby instead of leaving.
Doc told me periods come when the uterus lining sheds because no pregnancy happened. Once you conceive, hormones keep that lining intact to support the baby, so there's nothing to shed. That's why it just stops naturally.
I was actually wondering the same thing while trying to conceive. So a missed period is basically the body holding on to everything for the baby, right? Makes sense now.
