My doctor put me on duphaston at my last appointment but didnt explain much and i was too nervous to ask why. Im 8 weeks. Just wanted to understand what its actually for, anyone else been given this?
It is a prescribed medicine, so the why depends entirely on your specific situation. Please dont take or stop it based on a forum. Your treating doctor knows your reports and will tell you exactly why and for how long.
I was on a progesterone support too during my pregnancy and I understand the worry. It is usually given to support the lining and help maintain the early pregnancy when needed. But please take it only as your doctor prescribed and ask them why it is for your case, every situation is different.
My doctor explained these are progesterone support medicines, often prescribed when there is a history of loss, spotting, or after fertility treatment to help sustain the pregnancy. She was clear it should never be started or stopped on your own. Ask your gynac the exact reason for you and follow the dose.
