My fasting sugar came a bit high in the gtt test even though i eat fine and my post meal was normal. Im confused how can the fasting one be high when im not even eating overnight. Did this happen to anyone? trying to understand before my next visit.
I had this exact issue, fasting was high even when meals were okay. My doctor said pregnancy hormones make body resist insulin, specially overnight. What helped me was a small protein snack before bed instead of going long hours empty. But pls follow ur doctors plan, dont copy mine blindly.
My gynac explained that placenta hormones increase as pregnancy grows and they raise sugar resistance, fasting numbers especially get affected. Diet, walking after meals and proper bedtime snack help. If it stays high she may suggest more monitoring, so keep her updated.
Its mostly the pregnancy hormones, not always what u ate the night before. Dont panic at one high reading. Note ur readings, walk daily, and show ur doctor the pattern, she will guide on diet or anything more needed.
I used to stress over every fasting number and that honestly made it worse. Turns out its common and largely hormonal. Keep a calm log of readings and let ur gynac decide, dont spiral like I did.
