Im in my second trimester and woke up feeling warm and a bit feverish today. Nothing too high but it made me anxious. Just wondering why this happens, planning to call my gynac if it stays.
Fever in pregnancy is usually from an infection like cold, urine infection or stomach bug and it shouldnt be left alone. I had a urine infection that caused fever and needed treatment. Please dont take any tablet on your own, call your gynac, especially if it is high.
It is usually an infection of some kind. Drink fluids, rest, and do not self medicate. If it crosses a mild level or doesnt settle, see your gynac, fever during pregnancy is not to be ignored.
My doctor said most fevers are from common infections but a high or persistent fever in pregnancy needs prompt attention. She told me only the doctor approved fever medicine is safe and to never guess. Keep hydrated and inform her quickly.
