Why gums bleed during pregnancy?

Every time i brush there is some blood from gums now, didnt have this issue before pregnancy at all. Im 16 weeks. is this hormones related or do i need to see a dentist?

My saas told me to gargle with warm water and a pinch of turmeric, which actually felt very soothing. But definitely use a very soft brush as well.
