My doctor has prescribed ampicillin, and I'm pregnant. I'm a bit worried about taking medicines during this time. Can anyone tell me why ampicillin might be used during pregnancy?
When I was admitted in Cloudnine, my doctor clearly explained that they use such antibiotics to prevent any infection passing to the baby. Just ask your hospital staff or gynac to explain why they started it, they will guide u very nicely.
Usually it is an antibiotic given for some infection like UTI, but never self medicate in pregnancy. For mild issues I took coconut water and lots of water, but for actual infections you must take whatever your doctor has prescribed.
My gynac prescribed this for a small urine infection during my time, please trust God and your doctor and take it. It keeps the baby safe from infections. Keep chanting and stay positive, everything will go well dear.
I had to take it too because of a small infection before my normal delivery, and it worked really well. Just follow the doctor's prescription properly. You will be absolutely fine, don't worry!
My gynac told me ampicillin is a very safe penicillin group antibiotic used to treat bacterial infections like UTI or GBS during pregnancy. She said treating infections is very important because untreated infections can cause preterm labor. So definitely follow your doctor's prescription.
