My gynac wrote a doppler scan for my next visit and im 32 weeks now. She didnt explain much and i forgot to ask matlab why exactly its needed. anyone got this done? what does it check?
Arey, it's just a cool scan to make sure your baby is getting all the yummy nutrients you are eating! It checks the blood flow through the cord. I remember being so hungry during mine, but hearing the baby's healthy flow made me so happy!
I had this scan done in my third trimester just a few months ago. It's basically a special ultrasound that checks the blood circulation in the baby's brain, heart, and placenta. It's totally painless and gives the doctor a clear picture that baby is growing fine.
It's just to check that the blood is flowing properly to your little one. My doctor did it in the late second trimester, and seeing that everything was normal gave me so much confidence for my delivery. It’s a very routine and helpful scan!
In my case, I had high blood pressure, so my doctor ordered a doppler scan to make sure the blood flow to the placenta was completely normal. It is very important for tracking the baby’s growth, so please do not skip it if your doctor has recommended it.
They usually do this to check blood flow and ensure baby is thriving, which was such a relief for me because I could barely keep any food down due to severe vomiting. It's a quick, painless scan, so don't worry about it at all.
Oh, when they did the doppler scan, I felt so incredibly relieved and emotional hearing that whooshing sound of the blood flow. It basically checks if the baby is getting enough oxygen and nutrients through the umbilical cord, which is so reassuring.
