My doc keeps talking about my hcg levels at every visit and i just nod but dont fully get it. Why does the body even make this hormone? Trying to understand my own reports better.
HCG is the hormone made after the embryo implants and it supports the early pregnancy. My doc explained it tells the body to keep producing progesterone. That's also the hormone home tests detect in urine.
Basically hcg signals your body that you are pregnant and helps maintain it in the start. It's the one the kit picks up, which is why early tests can miss it if levels are low. Simple as that really.
Oh so thats why the test detects hcg, makes sense now. My gynac checked my hcg levels through blood early on too. Does a rising number mean things are going well na?
