Got my scan done and doctor mentioned the cervix is slightly open, im 20 weeks. Honestly it scared me a little and i couldnt ask enough questions in that moment. I will go back to my gynac for sure but wanted to know if any of u went through something similar.
First, breathe. Depending on how far along you are, this could be totally normal or it could need monitoring. The only right answer here is to call your doctor and let them check. Please dont self diagnose from posts, including mine.
This is really something your doctor should look at, not something to figure out from internet. There can be different reasons and only an examination can tell. Call your gynac and explain, dont wait around worrying.
I am going to gently say please reach out to your doctor right away on this one. I have been through losses and I know how scary these words feel. There are ways doctors manage cervix issues, so getting examined quickly is the most caring thing you can do for yourself and baby.
If its near your due date, the cervix opening is normal because thats how labour begins. But if its early, my doctor said it needs proper evaluation since there are conditions where the cervix opens too soon. Either way the safe step is to inform your gynac.
Please dont take this lightly and talk to your gynac soon. An open cervix earlier than expected can need attention and they sometimes have ways to manage it. I had a scare like this and my doctor monitored me closely, so get checked properly.
