My doctor asked me to come for an NST next week, im 35 weeks now. She explained quickly but i didnt fully get the point of it. Can someone tell me what they actually check in this?
My gynac did NST in the last weeks to check the babys heartbeat pattern along with movements. She explained it tells them the baby is getting enough oxygen and doing fine. It is totally non invasive, just belts on your tummy.
I had a few NSTs near the end since my baby was being monitored before my c-section. It is super easy, you just lie down and they strap two monitors on. Nothing painful at all, it actually felt reassuring to hear the heartbeat.
I have heard about this and got a bit nervous, is it uncomfortable? Reading that it is just monitors on the belly makes me feel better. Did the baby have to move during it for you?
It is basically to make sure the baby is doing well in there, mostly done in the third trimester. They check heart rate against movement. Routine thing, dont be scared of it.
