My gynac calculated my weeks from my last period date and im a bit confused, because conception happened later na. The maths isnt adding up in my head. Why is it counted like this?
My doctor explained it is because the exact date of conception is usually hard to pin down, but the last period date most women remember. So they count from the first day of your last period, which adds about 2 weeks before conception even happened. It is just a standard reference point.
Because nobody knows the exact conception day but everyone knows their last period. So 40 weeks is counted from there. That is why your weeks count is roughly 2 weeks ahead of actual conception, totally normal.
This confused me so much at first, I thought the dates were wrong. Did anyone else get muddled by the LMP counting? Once my gynac explained it made sense.
