My bp came low at the last checkup and i feel dizzy specially when i get up fast. Doc said its common but i still get thoda worried. Anyone else had low bp, what caused it for u?
Low BP is very common in the first two trimesters because your blood vessels expand to supply the baby. Don't panic, just drink lots of liquids like lime water with salt and sugar, and don't stand up suddenly.
I totally understand how scary it feels when you suddenly feel dizzy and weak. Your body is doing so much work to grow your little darling, so sometimes your blood pressure drops. Please lie down on your left side and drink some coconut water.
I had severe low BP during my pregnancy and would feel so lightheaded. My doctor advised me to drink plenty of water and have some salty snacks like roasted makhana whenever I felt weak. It really helped me stay steady.
My doctor explained that the circulatory system expands rapidly during early pregnancy, which naturally causes BP to drop. However, she emphasized that if it drops too low and causes extreme dizziness or fainting, you must call your gynac immediately.
It's a natural physiological change as progesterone relaxes blood vessel walls. Keep your fluids up, have small frequent meals, and keep some salt candy or ORS handy. But if you feel dizzy or faint, do check with your doctor.
