Im in my 5th month and suddenly noticed my neck has gone so dark, looks like dirt but it doesnt wash off. My MIL keeps saying its because of the baby but i never had this before. Anyone else got this darkening during pregnancy?
This is super common, it is the hormones causing extra pigmentation. Both my pregnancies my neck and underarms got darker. It fades on its own after delivery, dont scrub it harshly.
I felt so conscious about my dark neck, I thought I wasnt cleaning properly. Then I read it is just pregnancy hormones and melanin. It honestly lightened a lot in the months after my baby came.
I gently used a bit of curd and besan sometimes, kept the area moisturised. It is mostly hormonal so dont expect it to vanish overnight. If u see anything unusual like rashes though, just ask ur doctor.
Mine got dark too and with my PCOS history I always mentioned skin changes to my gynac just in case. For most it is harmless pregnancy pigmentation. But if it spreads a lot maybe get ur thyroid and sugar checked once.
