I read somewhere that lying flat on the back isnt good in later months. I sleep on my back out of habit and now im a little worried im doing something wrong. Can someone explain why thats the case?
In later months lying flat on your back can press on a big vein and make you feel dizzy or breathless. Thats why they say sleep on your side, left side is best. Early on it doesnt matter much, sleep however is comfy.
The side sleeping rule sounds easy till you actually try it for 9 months haha. A pregnancy pillow saved me, propped behind so I didnt roll flat. Get one, your hips will thank u.
I keep waking up on my back and panicking a bit. My doc said dont stress, your body usually wakes you if something feels off, just turn to the side again. Anyone else struggle to stay on their side all night?
My gynac explained the growing uterus presses on the vena cava when you lie flat on the back, which can reduce blood flow. She told me to switch to left side sleeping in the third trimester and use a pillow between knees.
Mainly its for the last few months beta. Side sleeping keeps blood flowing well to baby. Dont lose sleep over it though, just settle on your side with a pillow and rest properly.
