Im 6 months and i naturally sleep on my back, always have. My MIL keeps telling me not to sleep straight and to turn to the side but she couldnt really explain why. Can someone tell me the actual reason?
Its mainly about the third trimester when the bump is big. Sleeping on your back can make you feel dizzy and isnt great for circulation. Left side sleeping is recommended. I survived on a body pillow both pregnancies, total lifesaver.
Dont stress about it too much beta, just try to settle on your side, left is ideal. If you roll a bit in sleep its okay. A pregnancy pillow makes it comfy and keeps you in position.
My gynac explained that in later months, lying flat on your back can press on a big vein and reduce blood flow, so they ask you to sleep on your side, preferably left. In early months its less of an issue. She said use a pillow between knees, it really helps.
Actually its because back pe sone se blood flow thoda kam ho jata hai later on. Left side is the safe one. I just kept a pillow behind me so I didnt roll back. Worked nicely.
Honestly by the 8th month sleeping straight is impossible anyway lol, the bump wont let you. Doc told me left side is best for the baby. A pillow between the legs saved my sleep, highly recommend yaar.
