Just got my positive test last week and suddenly realised i havent thought about this properly. Like i know periods stop but actually why does it happen inside the body? Curious to understand it better.
Beta when baby comes the body knows. It stops the monthly bleeding to feed and hold the child. Our elders always said periods rukna is the first sign before even the test.
Simple way to think about it, the lining that normally sheds as your period is now keeping the baby in place. So body doesnt let it go. Thats why no periods till delivery for most of us.

Once you conceive your hormones shift so the uterus holds onto the lining instead of shedding it. That shedding is what we see as periods normally. If you still see any bleeding in pregnancy though pls dont assume its a period, get it checked.
Periods stop coz hormones keep the lining intact for baby. But just saying, some of us do get spotting early and it can look like a light period. If that happens to u, better to call ur doctor than guess.
