I keep hearing from elders that pineapple should be avoided in pregnancy but nobody explains why properly. I actually like ananas a lot. Can someone tell me whats the real reason behind this?
In our homes elders always said avoid pineapple in early months because it is heaty. A little bit is okay but big quantities they kept us away from. Best to ask your doctor if you really want it.
I accidentally ate two pieces early on and panicked the whole night honestly. Doctor said relax, that small amount does nothing. So please dont scare yourself like I did.
The worry is about a compound in it that can cause contractions but only in very large amounts. A small portion is generally fine. If you are nervous about it just confirm with your gynac.
Honestly a normal slice of pineapple wont do anything, it is the huge amounts that people worry about. I had it occasionally in both pregnancies and was totally fine. Just dont eat a whole one daily and you are good.
