Why progesterone injection is given during pregnancy?
My doctor started me on progesterone injections this week and honestly i forgot to ask her properly why. Im 9 weeks. Just want to understand from others who got these, what was the reason in ur case?
My doctor explained progesterone is the hormone that supports the pregnancy and helps keep the uterus calm. They give it when there is some risk like spotting or history of loss, to give extra support. She said its very routine, dont panic if its prescribed.
Beta dont worry if they gave you this. It just helps hold and support the pregnancy nicely in the start. Many women take it and have totally healthy babies. Just take it as told and rest well.
I was given these after my earlier loss, to support this pregnancy. It really gave me peace of mind. Whatever your doc says about it, trust them, they only give it when its needed for safety.
In my IVF journey progesterone support was a big part, because the body sometimes needs help maintaining the pregnancy in early weeks. It sounds scary but its actually a helping hand. Your doctor is just being careful with you.
