My doctor mentioned that they might perform a PV during my pregnancy. I'm not entirely clear on what that means. Why is a PV (per vaginal) examination done during pregnancy?
I completely panicked when my doctor said she had to do a PV checkup in my 9th month. But trust me, it was over in literally 10 seconds, you just have to take deep breaths and relax your body.
I'm currently in my 8th month and my doctor mentioned they will do a PV exam in the coming weeks. Honestly, I'm quite nervous about it—does it actually hurt or is it just uncomfortable?
I felt so incredibly nervous and tense before my first PV exam because I didn't know what to expect. But the doctor explained she was just checking my baby's position and cervical progress, which made me feel much more at ease.
During my pregnancy, with all my thyroid monitoring, I had to undergo several routine checks including a PV exam near my due date. Doctors do it to check if the cervix is softening or dilating, so just trust your gynac's timing.
I am still trying to conceive, but even the thought of these internal vaginal exams makes me a bit shy and nervous. Is it always compulsory during pregnancy, or only when you go into labor?
