My gynac started me on folic acid even before i actually conceived and now im taking it daily. I take it but honestly i dont fully understand why its so important. Can someone explain in simple words?
I was also curious why everyone insists on it. Basically its for baby's early development I think. Did anyone start it late and still was fine? I started a little late and my doc said its okay just continue.
Both my pregnancies my gynac started folic acid even before I conceived. Its one of the most important early tablets, dont skip it. Just take whatever dose she writes, dont decide on your own.
My doctor said it protects the baby's spine and brain formation in those first weeks. Family was giving me all greens also for natural folate, but the tablet is the sure shot way. Take as prescribed.
My doctor explained folic acid helps the baby's brain and spine develop properly in the very early weeks, it lowers the risk of neural tube defects. Thats why they even tell you to start before conception if possible. I took it exactly as she prescribed.
