Im around 22 weeks and getting this nagging pain in my right shoulder past few days. Its weird coz i didnt lift anything or sleep wrong. should i be worried about this or is it just normal aches? wanted to know before i call my doc.
I asked my gynac and she said in later pregnancy shoulder and upper back pain is common from the shifted centre of gravity and hormone relaxin loosening joints. She suggested prenatal stretches, good posture and warm compress. She did warn to flag any sudden severe shoulder pain though, just as a precaution.
Sitting at a desk all day made my shoulders ache too. Posture is the main culprit in pregnancy. I started taking short stretch breaks and used a cushion for back support, helped a lot. A warm bag at night works wonders.
Beta thodi si sarson ke tel se halki maalish karwa lo, aur garam paani ki sikai karo, aaram milega. Posture seedha rakho. Par agar dard achanak tez ho ya saans phoolne lage to doctor ko turant bolo.
Usually shoulder pain is from posture changes, the growing belly pulls everything and you slouch more. Warm compress and gentle stretches helped me a lot. Also dont sleep on one side the whole night, switch around.
Most shoulder pain is just muscular from posture and is harmless. But I have to say this, if shoulder pain comes suddenly and sharp, especially with belly pain, dizziness or in early pregnancy, please call your doctor immediately, because rarely it can signal something serious. For normal achy pain, warmth and rest is fine.
