My recent reports showed my thyroid levels went up and gynac adjusted things. Im just trying to understand why pregnancy does this in the first place. Did this happen to anyone else here?
My doctor explained the pregnancy hormones affect the thyroid gland and demand goes up, so existing thyroid can get worse or new issues show up. Thats why they test TSH early. Just keep up with the blood tests she asks for.
I am not an expert but I had thyroid along with my PCOS history, and the doctor said pregnancy naturally puts more load on it. Regular checks made me feel in control. Definitely keep your doctor in the loop.
Its mainly because the baby depends on your thyroid hormones in early weeks and your body works harder to supply it. Very common to need monitoring. Follow your gynac and endocrinologist, dont skip the TSH tests.
I had thyroid in both pregnancies. The body needs more thyroid hormone for the baby, so levels often change and many women need dose adjustment. Get it tested regularly, mine was checked every few weeks.
